Business as usual: Flexibility

Hybrid Working
At Vercity we have always embraced flexible working and have been at the vanguard of adopting a fully hybrid working policy which is serving us well during these uncertain times.

Vercity’s Approach
If companies are serious about attracting and retaining talent, they need to make their flexible working policies more inclusive as standard, not only as a response to the pandemic. Flexible working being available to everyone in the business is also a good thing for inclusion with a shared focus on better working practices for all.

Vercity has adopted a successful Hybrid Working Policy which runs through the business and is included in the Employee Handbook. This combines home / remote / project-based work to suit business needs and is embedded in our working practices. Our clients are asked to support this for a truly successful and fully hybrid approach to delivering our projects.

I can personally vouch for the difference this has made to my life in striving for a better work-life balance as a Project Manager but without reducing the service delivery to clients. It has made Vercity a stronger business in showing leadership with true hybrid working and continual support for their staff through the pandemic and beyond.

Social Impact
Sustainable working practices need to be adopted for the longer term where possible. Companies need to ask how they can reduce their carbon footprint in a more meaningful way and the simple solution is to allow us to lead and deliver projects with less impact on the environment.

Overseeing procurement through the local supply chain and partnering with other regional organisations helps in supporting greener initiatives and better ways of working but has the bonus of developing more meaningful, long-term working relationships which can extend to the communities we work in.
