About FREDIE at Vercity
In September 2020 Vercity decided to raise the bar on improving Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) across the organisation.
Vercity partnered with the National Centre for Diversity (NCfD) to launch a 2-year action plan to improve EDI. The initial review by NCfD assessors confirmed we were starting from a strong position when benchmarked externally.
This initiative led to the adoption of the FREDIE Principles (Fairness, Respect, Equality, Diversity, Inclusion & Engagement) and the establishment of a FREDIE Steering Group. The FREDIE Action Plan was also aligned to deliver the Investors in Diversity accreditation.
Solat Chaudhry, Chief Executive of the National Centre for Diversity, commented;
“On behalf of the National Centre for Diversity, I would like to congratulate Vercity Group, their staff and stakeholders on the successful achievement of the Investors in Diversity award following the assessment process. The Investors in Diversity journey and achievement of the standard gives a positive message to all the stakeholders, internal and external, and each person should be congratulated for their input and success of the organisation.”
Vercity has also been ranked 42 in the Top 50 Most Inclusive Workplaces in 2023.
Congratulations to all staff involved in the continuous development of FREDIE principles at Vercity and also to the FREDIE Champions and the Steering Group. We are delighted with this external recognition and will continue to disseminate good practice with all stakeholders and partners.
