Modus Collaborative Working Award

The MOD Main Building PFI Team won the coveted Service Sector award at the Institute for Collaborative Working (ICW) annual awards held on 10 December at the Lansdowne Club.

Whilst a small representation of the shortlisted companies was present, over 150 joined the awards online from around the world. The event was sponsored by BSI and was hosted by Lord Evans, the Chairman of the ICW.

The award recognises the Enterprise approach that DIO, Modus Services, Skanska and Amey have adopted to support not just the present demand on the Building and the service changes required to support a fully functional facility in the midst of COVID-19, but also for the long term and an aim of successful PFI handback. The ICW made reference to the uniqueness of this four-way approach and praised the longer-term view of the collaboration, as well as recognizing the significant tangible benefits realized to date.

The Enterprise has benefited from the support of ICW and from BSI in developing the four-way partnership and developing new joint systems and ways of working. This has manifested in delivering rapid and wide-ranging change to Main Building during the most challenging of years. In response to this, the MOD Head of Establishment was quoted:

“We have welcomed [Greater] Modus’s commitment to collaborative working and seen clear benefits with our aims for Main Building better understood, more effective working relationships and a united approach to addressing the challenges posed by COVID-19.”

David Blackall, Director Head Office at UK Ministry of Defence
